By: Sharon Maggard
Those attending the Prague Kolache Festival this year will
have plenty of choices for food. According to the food booth
chairman, Tonya Clark, all booth spaces have been filled and
there are 25 food vendors for the 2011 festival.
Five local booths will have kolaches this year, including the
Catholic Church, Methodist Church, Mike Moore, FFA and Frank
Martin Memorial. Kolaches sell for $9 a dozen. The Catholic
Church and Mike Moore will also have klobase sandwiches and
FFA has ribeye sandwiches.
There are two new booths offering some delightful things.
Heavenly Treats has gourmet funnel cakes which have peanut
butter cups, chocolate mint, turtle or caramel nut in the
batter with melted chocolate drizzled over the top. Garcia’s
Tacos has smothered and deep fried chimichangas, green chili
cheese fries, churros and deep fried Snickers candy bars.
If that doesn’t get your appetite going, how about Indian
Tacos? There are four Indian Taco booths, along with smoked
turkey legs, roasted corn on the cob, baked potatoes, Cajun
catfish, pulled pork, barbecue beef sandwiches, pork ribs,
onion burgers, jumbo hot dogs, fried green tomatoes, ribbon
fries, philly cheesesteak sandwiches, Rueben sandwiches,
chicken on a stick, Dip N’Dots, fried Twinkies and kettle
corn.
The Sundae Factory has waffle bowl Sundaes, ice cream in
waffle or sugar cones, blizzards, floats, and slussies.
The Wine Pavilion has booked three wineries: Plainview Winery
from Lahoma, Summerside Winery from Vinita and Grape Junction
from Stroud. Summerside Winery has frozen wine slussies and
Grape Junction has frozen wineritas. Besides wine, Plainview
Winery also has gourmet pickles by the jar.
The Pavilion will also feature German roasted nuts with
